Terms of Service

Effective Date: June 2026

Welcome to Clip Engine Pro (“Clip Engine,” “we,” “our,” “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website, search engine, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What Clip Engine Is

Clip Engine is a high-performance metadata search engine and indexing utility. It lets video editors, content creators, and filmmakers discover short, transformative video excerpts and cinematography references through natural-language and metadata-based search. The Service is a research and reference tool — it is not a media library, streaming service, or replacement for original full-length content.

2. Eligibility & Accounts

  • Age: You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.
  • Your account: Authentication is handled through our identity provider. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Accurate information: You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

3. Acceptable Use

Clips and metadata provided through the Service are intended for personal, research, educational, and transformative creative use. When using the Service, you agree that you will not:

  • Redistribute clips as a standalone media library or in any way that substitutes for the original copyrighted work.
  • Use the Service in a manner that infringes the rights of copyright holders beyond the scope of fair use. See our Fair Use Policy for details.
  • Scrape, mirror, resell, or attempt to bulk-export the index or its underlying data.
  • Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, its infrastructure, or other users' accounts.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Pro Subscriptions & Billing

  • Paid membership: Clip Engine Pro is offered as a recurring subscription (monthly, 6-month, or annual). Features and pricing are described on our pricing page.
  • Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled, and your chosen payment method will be charged for the next period.
  • Payment processor: Payments are processed securely by our third-party provider, Razorpay. We never receive or store your full card details.
  • Cancellation: You can cancel at any time from your profile page. Your Pro access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • Refunds: Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy below.

5. Intellectual Property

All video snippets indexed on Clip Engine remain the property of their respective copyright owners and are used here only for transformative, educational, and reference purposes. The Clip Engine name, software, search technology, and metadata index are our property or used under license. If you are a rights holder and believe content should be removed, please follow our DMCA & Content Removal Policy.

6. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that search results will meet your specific requirements.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clip Engine and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising out of your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective Date” above. Material changes will be communicated where reasonable. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India.

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 2026

Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information Clip Engine collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and authentication identity through our identity provider (Supabase Auth).
  • Subscription & payment status: We store your subscription state (for example, whether your membership is active and when it renews). We do not collect or store your full card or banking details — those are handled directly by our payment processor, Razorpay.
  • Usage & search activity: We log searches, interactions, and similar usage data to operate and improve the Service, including anonymous client and session identifiers stored in your browser.
  • Analytics: We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate usage trends.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and secure the Service and your account.
  • To process and manage your Pro subscription and payments.
  • To improve search quality, relevance, and overall platform performance.
  • To understand usage through aggregate analytics.
  • To communicate with you about your account, billing, or important service updates.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We rely on a small set of trusted providers to run the Service. Each processes data only as needed to perform its function:

  • Supabase — account authentication and identity.
  • Razorpay — secure payment processing and subscription management.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting and media/asset storage.
  • Google Analytics — aggregate usage analytics.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage for essential functionality — keeping you signed in, remembering preferences, caching results for speed, and maintaining anonymous session identifiers for analytics. You can clear or block these through your browser settings, though some features may not work as intended.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and subscription information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal, accounting, or reporting obligations. Usage logs are retained only as long as useful for operating and improving the Service.

6. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us. We will respond within a reasonable time. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

7. Contact

Refund Policy

Effective Date: June 2026

Clip Engine Pro is a digital subscription service, billed in advance for each period. We want you to be happy with your membership — this policy explains when refunds are available.

1. 7-Day Refund Window

If you are not satisfied, you may request a full refund within 7 days of a charge, provided that:

  • The subscription is essentially unused (no meaningful downloads or activity), or
  • You experienced a genuine technical fault that prevented you from using the Service and we were unable to resolve it.

2. After the Window

Once the 7-day window has passed, or once the membership has been meaningfully used, charges are non-refundable. We do not provide partial or pro-rated refunds for unused time within a billing period.

3. Cancelling Your Subscription

You can cancel at any time from your profile page. Cancellation stops all future charges, and your Pro access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancelling is not the same as requesting a refund.

4. How Refunds Are Issued

Approved refunds are returned through your original payment method via our processor (Razorpay) and may take several business days to appear, depending on your bank or provider.

To request a refund, email us within the 7-day window with your account email and the approximate date of the charge so we can locate your payment quickly.
